Note From Beth 1/6

Just a couple of months ago Nathan and I sat together at Mr. P’s BBQ (our first date night since having baby Zachary… although we let him tag along too). As we talked about future plans and things, Nathan shared a lot with me about his excitement and plans for Snow Camp this winter and life on the Island this summer! For anyone who really knows Nathan, camp is another item that would rank high on the list of favorites (John mentioned music being one of Nathan’s favorite things in an earlier post). Years ago when we first got married and began working with Word of Life, we both wrote up biblical principles for various things like our life and ministry, marriage, raising children (biblical principles being what God’s Word says about a particular subject, we would write it out in a clear and concise way just to help clarify for us what God had to say on those areas of our lives…) Since then we have moved several times and Nathan’s position with Word of Life has also changed several times. As we were anticipating all of the exciting changes to come, we realized we probably needed to update our principles. Since one of our longtime favorite verses has been Ephesians 3:20 “Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope,” we started looking around this whole passage. It didn’t take long before we settled on Ephesians 3:14-21!

Paul prays, “When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will give you mighty inner strength through His Holy Spirit. And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now glory be to God! By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. May He be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages. Amen.”

So as we discussed what our hopes and goals would be for those we looked forward to influencing through Snow Camp and summer camp on the Island and in any other way God allows, this passage covered so much of our desire! Paul prays for:

  • inner man to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit
  • for Christ to dwell in your hearts by faith
  • to be rooted & grounded down in their core
  • for others to comprehend width, length, height & depth of God’s love
  • to be filled with the fullness of God
  • that God does exceedingly, abundantly above what we would even dare to ask for or think of
  • Glory to Jesus!

Dear Beth and Nathan, You two are such godly mentors to my boys and me. Your love for our Lord and deep desire to serve Him faithfully, in all situations, brings tears of joy in witnessing your surrendered walk with Him. We are praying for your family all hours of the day. The twins look forward to spending the summer on the Island with you and Nathan and the kids. We can not even imagine the impact that Nathan's story will have on the campers -- a testimony to the Lord's power, greatness, mercy, and grace that is still being composed before our eyes. Our hearts beat with great anticipation to hear Nathan speak it himself at camp! Soli Deo Gloria -- Glory to God alone!! We love you so very much, weeping and rejoicing and praising the Lord all at the same time. Thank you for your tender and transparent words. They encourage all of us.

Beth/Nate Hey there, I have not posted before because there was plenty going on and I knew you all had your hands full. I am rejoicing with you in the progree that nathan is experiencing. I have been keeping up on all the post and passing them on to our students and adults in our servicies as we continue to pray for you all. In one of the post, I beleive your mother was commenting on having a special seat into the throne room of God...that thought was experienced by me during our time by David L's side , I would often say that God had given me a frontrow seat into the throne room of God. Not a place you typically sign up and volunteer for, however a spot that will never be forgotten. Trust our hearts and prayers are with both you and Nathan and of course your children. We love you and lift you all up before the throne of grace often. keep the faith and tell Nathan we love him. Dave

Beth, you should not look at Eph 4:13. Actually the whole chapter but i found verse 13 to be extremely significant to the present situation. I really enjoyed the post. My desire for you and Nathan is NOT for you to just hang in there. I would like for you to imagine that God is cradling you in his arms as HE carries you through this extremely difficult and exhausting time. Praying for you.

I don't have any idea where all of this shall lead you, but I do believe your best days are ahead. By God's grace you shall overcome all that may attempt to hold you back. No cross to bear, no crown to wear! Dad

Dear Beth, I do not know you personally and you do not know me at all, but I've come to know you and your dear husband more through this blog. Hope and Nick Benjamin are members of our church, Faith Baptist in Greenfield, MA. I just have to tell you that since Nathan's stroke 'I have not ceased to make mention of you in my prayers". What an amazing testimony you have going through this difficult time. We are going through some health challenges with two of the three of our children and I actually look to your posts for encouragement! Thank you, to you and Nathan, for being living examples of Christ. We will continue praying for healing and recovery and we look forward to seeing and hearing about what God will continue to do in you both, and through you!! God bless, Janice

Dear Beth, we do not know each other but I am John Armstrongs sister-in-law just wanted to let you know that we pray for you and Nathan on a daily basis as we are in Christs family. As I was reading others comments and your blog it hit me that God does not give us more than we can handle it amazes me what God does know we can. As someone mentioned in a blog above when your husband gets back on his feet what an awesome experience and how many more lives will come to Christ through this. At the same time I am in continuous prayer for you that God will give you strength that you need to be their for your husband and your children. Love in Christ, Corie
